Associate Publisher / Editor in Chief
Laura Tate co-created and co-launched Malibu Times Magazine eight years ago and has headed the creative team of of the publication since its inception, overseeing every aspect of its production. What started as a 32-page publication has grown to a regularly 90-plus page, perfect bound lifestyle magazine, featuring the homes and gardens, fashion and beauty, and in-depth features on the multifaceted residents of Malibu.
Laura is also associate publisher and editor of its sister publication, The Malibu Times weekly newspaper, which she has produced for the past 11 years. Her passion lies in every creative aspect of publishing, from shaping stories to working on layout with Art Director Matt Ansoorian to designing Web sites.
Prior to her career in journalism, Laura traveled the world working as an actress, and fashion and beauty model. In addition to raising her three children, Laura occasionally has time to indulge in her hobbies of dancing Argentine tango and salsa, reading, gardening, and DIY home projects.
Leslie Wade
Assistant Editor
Leslie Wade, a Georgia native, is a lifestyle journalist specializing in human interest pieces. Wade is assistant editor of Malibu Times Magazine. A senior journalism and creative writing major at Pepperdine University, she was recruited by the Waves to be a member of the Women’s Swimming and Diving team and spends most of her time at the pool.
MacKenzie Ring
Editorial Assistant
Editorial Assistant MacKenzie Ring is a sophomore in college who started her journey into journalism as an intern with Malibu Times Magazine. In her spare time, she tutors homeless youth in Ventura County and is also a teacher’s assistant at a high school in the San Fernando Valley.
Matt Ansoorian
Creative Director
Matt Ansoorian joined the team of Malibu Times Magazine a year ago. He had served as a graphic designer and creative director for such publications as New Angeles, Santa Barbara Independent, L.A. Citybeat and GamePro. Matt specializes in specialized branding through the use of print and multimedia platforms.

Kim Devore is an Emmy Award-winning television producer who has written and produced hundreds of hours of news and entertainment programming, most recently for the Travel Channel.
Melonie Magruder
Writer
Wearer of many hats, Melonie Magruder has run a theatre company in Paris, published short fiction, written news and features for publications in Los Angeles, and raised three children in addition to being a regular contributor to Malibu Times Magazine. Her first feature film goes into production in Paris in 2012.
Noé Montes
Photographer
Under the umbrella of Noé Montes Photography, Montes creates fine artwork as well as commissioned work for clients such as the Los Angeles Police Department and University of Southern California.
Oscar Zagal
Photographer
Oscar Zagal, a Mexican-born, award-winning photographer, is best known for his integration of stylistic portraiture and documentary. Zagal is currently focused on photographing the Latin rock movement.
